Bid Leo is a reverse auction platform offering its target audience an open market where you can enter live auctions with as little as two thousand (UGX 2000) shillings and bid on products at your preferred price. Auctions are usually live on selected radio stations and bids are received via web, mobile, and USSD options.
A bid is the intended purchase amount a bidder proposes or enters for a specific auction item.
Reverse Bidding is an auction where the lowest unique bidder gets the chance to buy the product at their own bid price.
Various items are being auctioned including vouchers (e.g., Fuel, School Fees, Shopping), Smartphones, Tablets, Laptops, Enterprise Goods for SME startups (e.g., Jet water machine, Iron sheets, equipment, water tanks), Electronics (e.g., Solar Radios, TVs, Home Theatres), Motorbikes, Cars, and much more.
You can place a bid through USSD by dialing *274*250#. Select 'Bid Now' from the welcome menu, then choose 'Open Auctions' and select the item you want to bid on. Enter the bid amount (above 500 UGX) and accept the bid ticket amount of UGX 1000. Follow the prompts and wait to enter your pin. You have the opportunity to place multiple bids of different amounts on the same product.
After placing a bid, you will receive updates through SMS on the status of your bid. You will be notified if your bid is unique and the lowest or if you need to try again. If your bid is the lowest and unique, you will receive a confirmation at the conclusion of the auction.
Some auctions have a fixed time limit, while others can end at any time. Full details of the duration of the auction will be provided by the presenter of the show if there is a fixed time limit. For auctions that can end at any minute, you will be notified via SMS in advance of the close of the auction.
The likelihood of being the successful bidder varies based on factors such as the number of bidders, the number of bids placed, and the duration of the auction.
Notifications are through SMS at the close of the auction if you are the successful bidder. Soon after, the customer care team will contact you with instructions and information on delivery and verification of your identity.
Anyone can be the successful bidder if they have the lowest unique bid at the close of the auction and receive an SMS from Customer Service with a payment reference number.
If you are the successful bidder, you will receive a confirmation text. In the case of larger items, you will likely be required to come to collect the item, but the customer care team will provide full details and assistance.
If you have not received a confirmation message, kindly check with your mobile service provider to see if you stopped promotional messages. If yes, proceed to activate promotional messages. For further assistance, provide your phone number and the date and time you placed your bid, or call Customer Service for assistance.
To stop receiving promotional messages, dial XXXXXX and follow the instructions.
You can bid as many times as you choose in a day, but it's advised to bid responsibly.
If your bid is currently unique, it means that at the time of entry, no other bidder has selected the same bid amount. It indicates a possibility that you could be the lowest unique bidder at the close of the auction.
If your bid is not unique, it means that another bidder has entered the same bid amount. Please try bidding again with a different amount.
